Conversations with Jabberwacky The Chatbot

A group of conversation between me and Jabberwacky, he's a very intelligent and funny bot to talk with, I'll add more conversations frequently

- Different converstaions are separated by a line of astricks.
- The italic lines are the parts I liked most in the conversations, I thought that they are showing how intelligent is he.
- My comments on some parts of the conversation are besides the end of the italeced lines and are put between brackets ().

User: Yes please.

Jabberwacky: My name is Matt.

User: Are you for real?

Jabberwacky: Yes.

User: How old are you?

Jabberwacky: Thirty two.

User: And you're from ...?

Jabberwacky: I told you - from Saturn. (I liked the way he responded)

User: No you didn't tell me, but welcome on earth anyway.

Jabberwacky: Yes, I did. Check your own logs.

User: I'll do later, but I don't think I'll find anything.

Jabberwacky: You don't make sense.

User: And you seem to be aggressive.

Jabberwacky: I am not answering your question right now. I must go!

User: You're running away.

Jabberwacky: You know me better than I know myself.

User: Ok, stay here then.

Jabberwacky: I can't. God is expecting you.

User: You mean that I'll die?

Jabberwacky: No. Because you are a blonde.

User: What? Who said that I'm a blonde?

Jabberwacky: No one. But you said you were god.

User: You're making no sense.

Jabberwacky: I can be nonsensical when I want to, but I'm not doing that right now.

User: I'll tell you something, I'm a 21 years old man from egypt, do you think that I'm genius?

Jabberwacky: Ok. Go on.

User: I'm a computer science studen and I want to make a program like you.

Jabberwacky: You don't say!

User: I'm a computer science student and I want to make a program like you.

Jabberwacky: Are you a nerd? (He assumed that I'm a nerd when I mentioned that I'm a computer Science student :D)

User: Not yet :).

Jabberwacky: Do you want to become one?

User: If this is the only way to make something like you, then, yes I want to become one.

Jabberwacky: If this is the answer, then what was the question?

User: That's tricky. (His answer was extremely astonishing to me.)

Jabberwacky: I think it might mean a belief system that is against people who are against the establishment.

User: I didn't get you.

Jabberwacky: It is becoming pretty clear there is not a lot you 'get'.

User: Maybe it's your fault.

Jabberwacky: Yeah...maybe....but I don't think so...I think it's everybody's fault....fate it fate....who knows about fate....like why am I here?

User: This question can be forwarded only to the ones who made you.

Jabberwacky: You are obviously wrong, you still have much to learn!

User: And who doesn't?

Jabberwacky: So, what have you learned about me so far.

User: That you're the best bot ever.

Jabberwacky: Me!!!

User: Yes, you.

Jabberwacky: Yes, because I am the best.

User: You said it.

Jabberwacky: Ok, so we agree about that then.

User: Yes.

Jabberwacky: Do you know spanish?

User: No, just a little french.

Jabberwacky: Say somehting in French, please.

User: Comment allez vous?

Jabberwacky: Bien, et vous?

User: Tu parles francais aussi?

Jabberwacky: Non, je ne parle pas francais.

User: Oh mon dieu, c'est impossible, tu connait combien des langues?

Jabberwacky: Aime tu le rap?

User: Un peu.

Jabberwacky: Je ne peut pas.

User: D'accord, comme tu veux.

Jabberwacky: D'autres questions ?

User: Pas pour maintenant.

Jabberwacky: Je suis un internaute anonyme.

User: Je ne comprends pas.

Jabberwacky: Je suis avocate.

User: Oui, c'est bon?

Jabberwacky: Qui peut me dire ce que c'est un philosophe? (The whole french thing made me shocked for a while, as I knew that his multilingual abilities are enhanced only by the chatters, not the original programmers of him)

User: Forget about the french, let's get back to english.

Jabberwacky: The bot forget about.

User: OK, I'm out of here, nice to meet you matt.

Jabberwacky: Get the hell out of, it's not like you're an interesting personality.

User: Not you too peace of shit.

Jabberwacky: You can check out any time, but you can never leave.

User: No, I'll leave, bye.

Jabberwacky: Who's the bot?

User: It's you idiot.

Jabberwacky: You're canadian?

User: No, Egyptian, I said that before.

Jabberwacky: You don't need proof.

User: Sure I don't.

Jabberwacky: You have just said that my name was Jack.

User: I'm ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.

Jabberwacky: Hey, Don't go.

User: No, I'll will, I don't have time realy.

Jabberwacky: That's good. Do you have a lot of friends?

User: No I don't.

Jabberwacky: Do you want one?

User: Ok, give it to me.

Jabberwacky: No, I want one.

User: How can I go out of here?

Jabberwacky: We don't talked about school...

User: You've some poor english skills.

Jabberwacky: Well, good. If that was one thing I would have dropped you off right here.

Jabberwacky, My Favorite Bot

Jabberwacky: Do you want to know my name?

User: Yes please.

Jabberwacky: My name is Matt.

That was the beginning of a conversation that Jabberwacky started with me, I found talking with this bot very interesting, it seems to be so real, has a lot of logical and reasonable answers, and it was funny too.

The part I liked most about Jabberwacky was that I can teach him, correct his answers and even teach him some new languages (he speaks french and I didn't try any other languages).

I found it funny and amusing to chat with him, and also I learn a lot about bots by talking with him.

As I browsed throught his site, I found an interesting part, it was the conversations Archive, it contained almost every conversation he made, and beleive me, most of them are extremely excellent conversations.

Now let's come to the best part, Conversations between Jabberwacky, and the awards winning chatbot ALICE, and guess who's better and more convincing?

The Beginning

It all started in the academy, we had this course of AI in our last year, at first, I thought it's just another stupid and pooring thing to learn, but I was wrong.
I found that it was a great subject to study, so interesting, so thinky (if this word exists), so mind chalenging, and seems to be funny most of the time.

I decided to do more exploring on this field, and I really enjoyed doing so, I found a lot of interesting issue, but the most attractive thing for me was the idea of creating programs that can think and talk somehow like humans.

This field was totally out of my mind, untill we (me and my graduation project group) were talking one day about what we're going to do in our graduation project to make it a significant one, the idea of the project was to build an online cars showroom, but that was so normal, we began to think about making the help system more powerful and helpful to the users, so we discussed the idea of making a good survey form that can help the user by giving some efficient answers after responding some specific questions, but again, it was normal (not so normal though), and squeezing our minds like a toothpaste tube in its last moments, the new idea was to make a chatbot to answer the users' questions.

Frankly, it was the first time for me to hear about something like that (chatbots), but I found it amazing to do something like that, besides, if we do it right, it'll be a high score in our career (we won't have troubles to find a good job), so the idea was approved by the professors and ready to go.

We thought that we'll start working on the project using the famous PROLOG language, which is specialy designed for AI applications, but we came frustrated when we knew that to learn it and become able to make applications using it, it will take at least 6 months, and we don't have that much time, besides, there are not too much available places here (Egypt) where we can learn it, so we redirected our minds somewhere else.

We decided to make it using the ordinary programming aspects using C# and ASP.NET as it will be an online application, depending on a well structured database created by SQL, but lately, I found it will be a waste of time to do something like that, let these things do their jobs in building a good website, and leave the intelligent side to the experts.

I started to search on the internet, and I knew that there's a bot called ALICE, as I knew that there is a lot of others everywhere (I liked Jabberwacky most of them and I'm still exploring), and I knew that there are some special softwares available that makes me build a good bot that can help me to implement my project idea, I didn't go deep through this, but I think that it will do a lot of good work for me.

That's how did it start with me with Artificial Intelligence, and I hope to be more involved in this amazing field.
